Combined Terms and Conditions
Bet With Mates (BWM) and Bet With Greats (BWG) are pooled‑betting features that allow Members to join a Group, contribute funds and participate in bets placed on behalf of the Group.
These Terms and Conditions apply to Sportsbet’s BWM and BWG features. General terms apply to both features. Additional feature specific terms follow under separate headings.
1. General Terms (Applicable to Both Features)
1.1. Governing Rules
All Groups under BWM and BWG are governed by:
1.1.1. these Terms and Conditions;
1.1.2. Sportsbet Rules, Terms and Conditions (Rules);
1.1.3. Sportsbet Feed Terms & Conditions (where applicable);
1.1.4. Sportsbet Privacy Policy;
1.1.5. Community Guidelines; and
1.1.6. Sportsbet User Generated Content Term & Conditions.
Capitalised terms used in these Terms and Conditions have the meaning given to them in the Rules unless otherwise defined below in rule 4 below.
1.2. Eligibility
1.2.1. To participate in a BWM or BWG Group, Members must hold a valid Sportsbet account.
1.2.2. Members must have a Sportsbet Feed profile to join a BWG Group.
1.2.3. Participation may be restricted based on individual account settings, Break / Exclusion or legal requirements.
1.2.4. BWM is not available to ACT Members.
1.2.5. Participation in a Group is not guaranteed. An individual’s ability to join a Group:
(a) will depend on their individual circumstances;
(b) is subject to Group limits (see rules 1.3, 2.6 and 3.7 of these Terms and Conditions); and
(c) is subject to Sportsbet’s sole discretion. Sportsbet may refuse, restrict or remove an individual’s ability to join a Group at any time, including for account, eligibility, responsible gambling, risk, integrity, legal or regulatory reasons.
1.3. Group Limits
1.3.1. A Member may not participate in more than five (5) Groups at a time.
1.3.2. A Member may not create and/or join more than three (3) Groups per day.
1.4. Buy Ins, Membership and Funds
1.4.1. Each Group Member must contribute the required Buy In to join a Group.
1.4.2. All Group Members hold an equal share of their Group’s funds (including winnings and unsettled bets).
1.4.3. Funds transferred into a Group count toward a Member’s personal deposit limits.
1.5. Exiting a Group
1.5.1. Group Members can exit a Group at any time for any reason.
1.5.2. If a Group Member exits a Group, they acknowledge and accept that they will no longer be able to:
(a) participate in the Group;
(b) view any of their previous activity within the Group (including their bet and transaction history); or
(c) view any future transactions or bets in the Group.
1.5.3. If a Group Member exits the Group, they are entitled to an equal share of the Group’s funds immediately before exit, including any winnings generated from pending bets placed prior to their exit from the Group. Funds will be returned to the Member’s Sportsbet account. Any amounts not turned over within the Group will retain the withdrawable or non-withdrawable status they held when originally contributed to the Group.
1.5.4. Upon any Break / Exclusion being applied to a Member’s personal Sportsbet account, the Member will be:
(a) automatically exited from any Group(s) they belong to; and
(b) entitled to a share of the amount of funds within the Group(s) they belong, determined in accordance with rule 1.5.3 above. A Group Member will not be able to re-join the Group(s) they previously belonged to at the completion of any non-permanent Break / Exclusion.
1.6. Betting Rules
1.6.1. Live Betting and Betting-In-Run (Racing) are unavailable for Groups.
1.6.2. Subject to the settlement rules in relation to each specific bet, all bets placed on behalf of a Group will stand.
1.6.3. Sportsbet’s normal bet cancellation policy (described in rule 1.11.10 of the Rules) applies to Groups.
1.6.4. A Group Member may not request to cancel a bet made on behalf of a Group.
1.6.5. Each Group Member owns an equal share in all bets placed on behalf of a Group.
1.7. Chat Functionality and Community Guidelines
1.7.1. Group chat (Chat) may be available depending on the Group type and settings.
1.7.2. All Chat will be governed by Sportsbet User Generated Content Term & Conditions.
1.7.3. All BWG Group Member usernames must adhere to the Feed Community Rules set out in rule 3.4 of the Sportsbet Feed Terms & Conditions. Usernames contrary to this requirement may result in the Group Member being removed from the Group, at Sportsbet’s absolute discretion.
1.7.4. Sportsbet may, in its absolute discretion, remove content, remove Group Members, disable Chat or close Groups for any breaches of these Terms and Conditions or the Community Guidelines.
1.7.5. Group names must comply with the Community Guidelines.
1.7.6. Group names, usernames and any Chat content in Groups may be monitored by Sportsbet, including through use of automated moderation technologies, AI tools and human review.
1.8. Dispute Resolution
1.8.1. Any Dispute which may arise in relation to a Group (including but not limited to bet(s) placed by a Group) will be handled in accordance with the Rules.
1.9. Reservation of Rights
1.9.1. Sportsbet reserves the right to:
(a) share a Group name and activity for marketing purposes;
(b) prohibit a Member from joining or participating in a Group at any time for any reason without notice or explanation;
(c) remove Group Members from a Group at any time for any reason without notice or explanation;
(d) close a Group at any time for any reason without notice or explanation;
(e) determine a Group’s eligibility to receive promotions or generosity;
(f) refuse any bet (or part of a bet) of a Group at any time for any reason without notice or explanation
(g) close a BWM Group whose name does not comply with the Community Guidelines.
1.9.2. Without limiting rule 1.9.1(f), Sportsbet may refuse a Group bet (or part of a Group bet) for a range of reasons, including if but are in no way limited to:
(a) A Group Member is under 18 years of age, or may under 18 years of age;
(b) a Group Member is, or may be, betting on behalf of someone under 18 years of age;
(c) a Group Member is, or may be, breaching any of the terms and conditions set out at rule 1.1;
(d) a Group Member is, or may be, breaking any applicable law; or
(e) in Sportsbet’s view and at Sportsbet’s ultimate discretion, accepting the bet would create an unacceptable liability risk to Sportsbet’s business.
1.10. Privacy
1.10.1. Members acknowledge that by joining a Group, certain information including their username and contributions to any Chat will be visible to all other Group Members of that Group.
1.10.2. Sportsbet can’t share information about other Members’ personal Sportsbet accounts.
1.10.3. Sportsbet can’t share any information about or any activity of a Group after a Member has exited that Group.
1.10.4. Sportsbet operates the BWM and BWG products in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
2. Bet With Mates – Feature Specific Terms
2.1. Nature of Bet With Mates (Social Contract)
2.1.1. By using the BWM product, all BWM Group Members acknowledge and agree:
(a) it is solely the responsibility of the BWM Group and its Members to decide, set and administer any particular Group betting protocols they see fit, including any betting limits imposed on Members (Social Contract); and
(b) it is solely their responsibility to form the Social Contract in relation to the BWM Group.
2.1.2 The BWM Group and/or BWM Group Member(s) expressly acknowledge they have no recourse against Sportsbet nor the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission (NTRWC) (and neither Sportsbet nor the NTRWC will entertain or consider any complaint or dispute) in relation to any conduct by a BWM Group Member which may be in breach of a Social Contract (including, without limitation, placing a bet, betting an amount in excess of any limit, or Cashing Out a bet) in a BWM Group. For the avoidance of any doubt, this condition 2.1 will apply whether or not a BWM Group has agreed any Social Contract.
2.2. Creating a Group
2.2.1. To create a BWM Group, Members will need to set the Buy-In and transfer the applicable amount of funds into the BWM Group from their personal Sportsbet account.
2.2.2. The Member who creates the BWM Group will be an Admin.
2.2.3. A BWM Group must have at least two (2) Members (including the Admin) who have transferred the Buy-In into the BWM Group. An Admin Activates the group when they are satisfied that all invited Members have joined and transferred the Buy-In, after which they will become BWM Group Members.
2.2.4. Once a BWM Group has been Activated, no other individuals can be added as a BWM Group Member to that BWM Group.
2.2.5. Duplicate Groups are not permitted.
2.3. Admin Powers and Responsibilities
2.3.1. Each BWM Group must contain at least one (1) Admin at all times.
2.3.2. If a BWM Group has only one (1) Admin and that Admin exits the BWM Group, the next Member who joined the BWM Group will automatically be appointed the Admin.
2.3.3. If the BWM Group has not been Activated, an Admin can close the BWM Group and any funds transferred into the BWM Group by a Member will be returned to their personal Sportsbet account. Any amounts not turned over will retain the withdrawable or non‑withdrawable status they held when originally contributed.
2.3.4. An Admin may request a Top Up at any time. When a Top Up is requested, the Admin and other BWM Group Members may choose to transfer the Top Up amount from their personal Sportsbet account into the BWM Group. Members who do not transfer the Top Up amount will be automatically exited from the BWM Group, and their share of the funds within the BWM Group will be returned to their personal Sportsbet account. Any amounts not turned over will retain the withdrawable or non‑withdrawable status they held when originally contributed.
2.3.5. Once an Admin is satisfied that all Members who wish to Top Up have done so, the Admin can elect to Resume Group Betting.
2.4. Invitations and Joining
2.4.1. An invitation to join a BWM Group can be sent to any individual, but their ability to join is not guaranteed and will depend upon the factors set out at rule 1.2.5 of these Terms and Conditions.
2.4.2. While Sportsbet provides the platform to facilitate group betting, a Member is not obliged to accept an invitation to join a BWM Group.
2.4.3. An Admin (not Sportsbet) is responsible for sending an invitation to join a BWM Group to any Member and accordingly must, before sending the invitation, take care to ensure that Member has consented to receiving this type of communication from them.
2.5. Betting Rules
2.5.1. It is the responsibility of the BWM Group to determine the operation of the BWM Group with respect to betting turns, stake value, bet selection, Buy-Ins, Top Ups, Cash Out, promotions and generosity use and invitations to join.
2.5.2. There are no set turns for bet placement within the BWM Group meaning a BWM Group Member can place a bet at any time and of any value provided that there are BWM Group funds available (subject to any applicable BWM Group Member and market limits).
2.5.3. It is a BWM Group Member's responsibility to ensure they are correctly placing their bet selection with their BWM Group or personal Sportsbet account. Sportsbet’s normal bet cancellation policy applies to BWM Groups (see rule 1.11.10 of the Rules).
2.5.4. If Cash Out is available, it may be performed by any BWM Group Member regardless of whether or not they placed the relevant bet. Sportsbet is not responsible for any BWM Group Member’s decision to Cash Out. The BWM Group Member responsible for deciding to Cash Out will not be viewable within the BWM Group.
2.6. Group Limits (BWM)
2.6.1. A BWM Group may not consist of more than one hundred (100) Members (including the Admin).
3. Bet With Greats – Feature Specific Terms
3.1. Nature of Bet With Greats
3.1.1. BWG involves a Group facilitated by a Sportsbet‑nominated host (Host). The Group operates on the BWM platform, but the Host is solely responsible for all betting activity undertaken on behalf of the Group.
3.1.2. Certain BWG Groups may only be available to select Members at Sportsbet’s discretion.
3.2. BWG Host
3.2.1. The Host is appointed by Sportsbet to undertake all betting activity on behalf of the BWG Group.
3.2.2. The Host is an equal Member of the BWG Group. The Host must contribute the Buy‑In using their own cash funds, in the same manner as all other Members.
3.2.3. The Host holds the same proportional share of Group funds and any resulting winnings as every other Member.
3.2.4. The Host does not receive any commission, bonus, or other financial incentives based on the outcome of the bets placed, other than their equal share of the amount of funds within the BWG Group, and dividends which are paid equally amongst all Members (including the Host).
3.2.5. The Host’s share of the BWG Group funds and any dividends paid to the Host upon the closure of the BWG Group will be distributed to the Host’s personal Sportsbet account.
3.2.6. Sportsbet may set certain operational parameters for a BWG Group (Group-Specific Parameters; discussed further at rule 3.3 of these Terms and Conditions). These Group-Specific Parameters operate as platform‑level conditions or limits applicable to the Group and define boundaries within which the Group may operate. Subject to those parameters, Sportsbet does not direct or influence the Host’s betting decisions. The Host operates autonomously and has not been instructed or influenced by Sportsbet regarding which bets to place.
3.2.7. The Group Parameters applicable to a BWG Group will be set out in that BWG Group’s description, which will be available for Members to review before joining.
3.3. Group Specific Parameters
3.3.1. Sportsbet may specify one or more of the following matters in each Group’s description (as applicable to that Group):
(a) Identity of the Host;
(b) Buy In amount;
(c) Events covered;
(d) Group specific limits or betting parameters (including maximum stake or odds);
(e) Group duration or operating period;
(f) Group capacity;
(g) Any other restrictions, settings or operational requirements that apply to that Group.
3.4. Group Opening and Closing Timing
3.4.1. Members may join a BWG Group any time between the BWG Group being opened and the earlier of:
(a) the Host closing the BWG Group; or
(b) the BWG Group reaching its stated Group Limit.
3.4.2. The Host is permitted to close the BWG Group at any time, but will typically close the BWG Group before the commencement of the first Event covered by that BWG Group, which may include the first game of a sporting event, the first race of a racing program, or the beginning of the first match, tournament round or other activity that forms part of the Event.
3.4.3. A BWG Group will only remain operational until the completion of the final Event covered by that BWG Group. This means the BWG Group will close at the end of the last scheduled activity included in the Group’s Event, whether that is the final game of a sporting event, the final race of a racing program, the last match, the final tournament round or the end of any other sporting activity that forms part of the Event as set out in the Group description.
3.5. Member Participation
3.5.1. Members’ participation in a BWG Group is limited to observing the Host’s betting activity and, where Chat is enabled for that BWG Group, engaging in the BWG Group Chat in accordance with the Community Guidelines. Members cannot place bets, perform Cash Out, Top Up, select markets, determine stake values or take any other action that affects the betting activity of the BWG Group.
3.5.2. Members acknowledge that all betting‑related actions, including placement of bets, stake selection, use of promotions or generosity features and Cash Out (where available), are managed solely by the Host.
3.5.3. Subject to rule 3.5.4, Sportsbet employees are not permitted to join a BWG Group.
3.5.4. Sportsbet employees responsible for the establishment and operation of BWG Groups and monitoring BWG Group Chat and bets placed are permitted to join those BWG Groups they are responsible for.
3.6. Betting Rules (BWG)
3.6.1. All bets in a BWG Group must be placed by the Host.
3.6.2. If Cash Out is available, it may be performed by the Host only.
3.6.3. The Host has full discretion over all betting‑related decisions for the BWG Group, including bet selection, odds, stake value, Cash Out and the application of any promotions or generosity features. This discretion is exercised subject to the Group Description and Group Specific Parameters.
3.7. Group Limits (BWG)
3.7.1. A BWG Group may not consist of more than one thousand (1,000) Members (including the Host).
3.7.2. BWG Groups will be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. A BWG Group will be closed on the earlier of the BWG Group reaching its stated Group Limit or the Host closing the Group (see above at rule 3.4).
4. Defined Terms
Activate refers to the action taken by an Admin to allow a BWM Group to start betting. This is done by clicking the ‘start betting’ button and confirming that the BWM Group is ready to bet;
Admin means an administrator of a Bet With Mates Group;
Buy In the amount each Member must contribute to join the Group. The Buy-In is determined by the Admin (in a BWM Group) or by the Host (in a BWG Group), in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
Break/Exclusion means any short break, long break, temporary exclusion or permanent exclusion applied to a Member’s Sportsbet account in accordance with the Rules or applicable responsible gambling requirements;
BWG Group means a Bet With Greats Group facilitated by a Host within the Bet With Mates platform, where the Host is solely responsible for placing all bets on behalf of the Group in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
BWM Group means a Bet With Mates Group created by an Admin within the Bet With Mates platform, where Members pool funds and may each place bets on behalf of the Group in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
Cash Out has the meaning given to it in the Rules and refers to a feature that allows settlement of a bet, or part of a bet, before the outcome of the event is determined;
Community Guidelines means the standards for acceptable user conduct and content on Sportsbet platforms, as set out in the Rules, the Sportsbet Feed Community Rules, and the Sportsbet User Generated Content Terms and Conditions);
Duplicate Group means a Group with an identical set of Members;
Event means the series of sports, tournaments or races that are covered by a BWG Group. It refers to a pre‑defined set of games, matches, races or other sporting activities that will be the subject of bets placed by the Host for that Group. The specific Events applicable to a Group will be set out in that Group’s Group Description, which will be available for review before joining;
Generosity means any bonus, boost, enhancement or other benefit made available by Sportsbet in connection with a bet or market, as described in the Rules. Generosity is subject to availability and any conditions applicable to its use;
Group means a collective betting group created under either Bet With Mates or Bet With Greats. A Group may be a BWM Group or a BWG Group, depending on the feature being used, and consists of the Members who have joined that group in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;
Group Description means the information published by Sportsbet for each BWG Group, including details such as the Host identity, Buy In amount, Events covered, Group‑specific limits or betting parameters, operating period, capacity, chat settings and any other restrictions or operational requirements that apply to that Group;
Group Member means any person who becomes a member of a BWM or BWG Group, including members, Admins and Hosts;
Host means the Sportsbet nominated host who places bets for a BWG Group;
Resume Group Betting refers to the action taken by an Admin to end a Top Up period and allow the BWM Group to continue betting. Members who have not Topped Up when an Admin ‘Resumes Betting’ will be exited from the Group;
Top Up means the amount of funds that each Member must contribute to continue betting in a BWM Group. The Top Up amount is determined by an Admin in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.
