Sportsbet Racing Terms & Conditions

Racing Terms and Conditions

1.           General

1.1         Sportsbet may cancel wagers where it reasonably suspects that the Member or associates have manipulated a state totalisator pool.

1.2         Sportsbet may place a limit on the payout (final odds) where there is reasonable suspicion of pool manipulation having occurred (e.g. Payout no greater than 100% higher than the next best Australian tote).

1.3         If the runner is scratched, the stake will be refunded.

1.4         Sportsbet adheres to all Minimum Bet Laws (MBL) prescribed by official Racing Bodies (PRA’s) across all three codes: Horse Racing, Harness Racing and Greyhound Racing. Sportsbet is not obliged or required to accept a bet for more than the applicable MBL for the relevant state at the relevant time. In the event of an official price fluctuation or Sportsbet price fluctuation changing, Sportsbet is not compelled to accept any bet at the pre-changed price.

1.5         In the event of a horse or greyhound being withdrawn late by order of the stewards, all bets will be paid as stewards direct, including deductions on remaining runners.

1.6         Bets will be settled as per the official decision of Stewards on race day. Where a horse/dog is subsequently disqualified or placings amended at a later date, for any reason, the official result as declared by Stewards on the day of the race will stand.

2.           Fixed Place

2.1         Where there are 8 or more runners in a race, a Fixed Place bet shall be paid on first, second and third places. If you wagered on a Fixed Place bet when the field had 8 or more runners and the field later reduced to 7 or less runners, first, second and third places will be paid, but deductions may apply.

2.2         Where there are 7, 6 or 5 runners in a race, a Fixed Place bet shall be paid on first and second places only.

2.3         Where there are less than 5 runners in a race, all betting shall be Win only.

3.           More Places

3.1         More Places betting options will be available to a maximum of Top 10 as stipulated in the below tables based on race location.

For Australian races, more places will be available as follows:

Field Size Places Offered
3 or less Win
4, 5 Win, Top 2
6, 7, 8, 9 Win, Top 2, Top 3, Top 4
10, 11 Win, Top 2, Top 3, Top 4, Top 5
12, 13 Win, Top 2, Top 3, Top 4, Top 5, Top 6

20 or more Win, Top 2, Top 3, Top 4, Top 5, Top 6, Top 7, Top 8, Top 9, Top 10

3.2         For UK and Irish races, more places will be available as follows:

Field Size Places Offered

20 or more Win, Top 2, Top 3, Top 4, Top 5, Top 6, Top 7, Top 8, Top 9, Top 10

3.3         There is a minimum field size of 4 runners (or 5 runners for UK and Irish races) for More Places to be offered beyond Win prices.

3.4         In the event a field is reduced in size, any More Places bets struck prior to the reduction in field size will stand so long as the field size remains greater than the number of places on offer (i.e. per the above table) at the time the bet was placed. If the field reduces in size beyond the amount of placings on offer when a More Places bet was struck, the bet will be voided.

For example: If a race has 11 horses, then a Top 5 bet can be placed.

  • If there were at total of 1 - 5 scratchings and the field size reduced to 10 - 6, the original Top 5 bet would still stand but deductions will apply per the More Places deductions table.
  • If there were 6+ scratchings and the field size reduced to 5 or less, then the original Top 5 bet would be voided.

3.5         Deductions as a result of reduced field sizes will be applied to More Places bets in-line with the:

  • More Places deductions table (for Australian races); or
  • Late withdrawals – UK Tattersalls Rule 4’ table (for UK and Irish races).

3.6         For UK and Irish races, More Places markets will only be available under the ‘Win or Place’ tab.  Bets placed under the 'Win/Each Way' tab will be calculated according to the specific rules detailed at the bottom of the racecard (explained further at rule 31 of these Racing Terms & Conditions). On occasion, these calculations may differ from the 'More Places' prices. Customers are advised to review the racecard rules carefully to understand how their bets will be settled.

3.7         The availability of More Places markets is at the sole discretion of Sportsbet. Sportsbet reserves the right to add, modify, or remove any More Places markets at any time.

4.           Live Racing

Preamble:         Live Racing means betting that takes place while an event is in progress. In addition to the rest of these Terms of Use, the following rules apply to Live Racing:

4.1         Betting on Live Racing is only available via the Sportsbet Website and Sportsbet app.

4.2         Live Racing markets are strictly win only markets.

4.3         Bets placed on Live Racing markets will be listed in your account history as the price type ‘Live Fixed Win’.

4.4         Deductions may apply on Live Racing markets when any individual selection(s) is declared a non-runner. However, if the horse declared a non-runner is not individually listed but included under ‘The Field’ option, no deductions will apply to winning bets.

4.5         Sportsbet reserves the right to void any part of any, or all, bets on any Live Racing event that is not completed (i.e. abandoned, postponed).

4.6         Where a blatant or palpable error is made in transmission on any event on which Sportsbet has purported to offer Live Betting, bets may be settled at the correct price at the time at which the Bet was placed.

4.7         Where Sportsbet has reason to believe that a bet is placed after the outcome of an event is known, it reserves the right to void the bet.

4.8         Sportsbet shall not be liable for any interruptions to televised coverage or connection errors experienced by the customer. Furthermore, Sportsbet accepts no responsibility for races described as ‘live’ by any broadcasters that may actually be delayed or pre-recorded. In the result of an interruption to the broadcast all Live Racing markets will be suspended but any bets already placed will stand.

4.9         If a market is not scheduled to offer Live Racing but Sportsbet fails to suspend the market at the relevant time, then all bets accepted after the official ‘off’ time will be void. The Live Racing market is signified by the yellow ‘BL’ icon visible in the race card.

4.10       Protest Payouts do not apply to Live Racing bets, and bets will be settled on official placings.

4.11       If the race has been declared by the official stewards as a false start, Live Racing fixed win bets on that race will be voided, and Sportsbet reserves the right not to re-offer the market for the re-run of that particular race/event.

5.          Abandoned/Postponed and Transferred meetings

5.1         If a meeting is abandoned, transferred to another venue/track (including transferring to a different track at the same venue) or postponed to another date, single bets are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected multi bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

This sub-Rule does not apply to US racing when races at a multi-surface program are changed from one surface to another at the same venue.  All bets will stand in this instance.

5.2         Subject to Rule 5.3 of these Racing Terms & Conditions, where a meeting is postponed and rescheduled to take place at the same venue (and same track) within 12 hours of the original scheduled start time of the meeting, all bets stand as if the meeting was not postponed.

5.3         If scratchings are reinstated due to a postponed meeting at the same venue (and same track) then all single bets are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected multi bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

5.4         Regardless of whether a ' Futures event (All in betting) ' has been abandoned, postponed or transferred from the original date, all bets stand until the completion of the event.

5.5         In the unlikely event of an Australian / New Zealand race that is inadvertently offered but not being covered with a Win & Place pool from the three major Australian TABs (NSW, Super-TAB, UniTAB), Sportsbet reserves the right to cancel all bets on the race.

6.           Deductions

6.1        How to calculate Deductions.

E.g., If you have $10 to win on a 7.00 winner - and total win deductions are 13c in the dollar:

  • This means you will receive 87c in every dollar of the Face Value of the ticket.
  • Face Value: $10 x 7.00 = $70.
  • Reduced Face Value: $70 x .87c = $60.90 pay out.
  • Less your $10 outlay leaves a win profit of $50.90.

6.2        Schedule of deductions

This schedule of deductions is a guide only. Actual deductions may differ from this schedule.  This schedule of deductions does not apply to Victorian horse racing.

9.           Errors, Incorrect betting and general information

Errors

9.1         Error identified PRIOR to the commencement of the event:

If an error is identified prior to the commencement of the event and notified by Sportsbet to the most recent contact number or email address supplied by the Member, those wagers on that event will be made void and the Member’s stake refunded. If the wager is part of a multi bet, the wager will then be re-calculated excluding the event to which the error relates.

9.2         Error identified AFTER the commencement of the event:

If an error is identified only after the commencement of the event or for any other reason not notified to the Member's point of contact prior to commencement of the event, the wager on the event shall stand.

9.3         Exception - Where Sportsbet can demonstrate that the error was manifest or obvious, or that the Member otherwise should reasonably have been aware of the error when the wager was placed, in which case Sportsbet reserves the right to void such wagers.

 Incorrect Betting and General Information

9.4         If Sportsbet publishes, posts or quotes any incorrect betting information for any thoroughbred, harness or greyhound racing event, such as posting wrong odds or lines, then regardless of the cause of source of such error Sportsbet reserves the right to void each Member’s bet.

9.5         All internet betting (excluding live betting) is subject to a one-minute cut off before the official start time.

9.6         Sportsbet reserves the right to close and or restrict a Member's betting account and refund the balance of his/her betting account, without further explanation.

9.7         In the interests of staff and Members, all telephone calls will be recorded and the recording used to settle all wagering disputes. If any dispute cannot be settled satisfactorily between Sportsbet management and the Member, the matter shall be referred to a representative of the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission (NTRWC) for final determination and all wagers will be adjusted accordingly.    When Sportsbet’s staff repeats the odds and event to the Member, it is the responsibility of the Member to make sure that the information given is understood correctly.

11.        Sportsbet Odds Types

Top Tote Plus

11.1       Top Tote Plus is a market that pays the highest of the dividends declared by each of the three Australian Totes (NSW, Super-TAB and UniTAB)  or the State Official Starting Price, whichever is greater. Starting Price (SP) is not applicable to Place bets.

Win Bets: Top Tote Plus applies to the Win and Win portion of Each Way wagers for selected Australian thoroughbred race meetings.

Place Bets: Unless otherwise specified, Place only and place portion of Each Way bets, place bets are paid at Mid Div (second highest dividend declared by the three Australian totes for all races).

Markets with Seven or Fewer Runners:   If TAB offers a race market that initially contains seven or fewer runners, no third-place tote dividend will be declared. Accordingly, Sportsbet will not pay a third-place dividend for tote betting in these circumstances.  For the avoidance of doubt, this applies even if Sportsbet had released tote betting on the same race when the field contained eight or more runners, and TAB subsequently opens its market with seven or fewer runners.

Markets with Four or Fewer Runners:  If TAB offers a race market that initially contains four or fewer runners, no place dividends will be declared. Accordingly, Sportsbet will not pay tote place dividend in these circumstances. All tote place bets (including the place portion of each-way bets) will be refunded to customers.  For the avoidance of doubt, this applies even if Sportsbet had previously offered tote betting on the same race when the field contained five or more runners, and TAB subsequently opens its market with four or fewer runners.

11.2       In the event Sportsbet offers Top Tote Plus on any given International Racing, Greyhound or Harness meetings, the SP will not be applicable and Place only and the Place portion of Each Way wagers will be settled in accordance with rule 11.1 of these Racing Terms & Conditions.

11.3       Sportsbet reserves the right to limit the stake on Top Tote Plus bets and reserves the right to exclude customers from this price type at its discretion.

11.4       In the event that not all three Australian totes declare a dividend within a reasonable time following the official decision of Stewards on race day, the dividend paid will be the dividend declared by Super-TAB.

Mid Div

11.5       Mid Div is a market that pays out using the middle odds of the three dividends declared by each of the three Australian totes.

Place Bets: For Place only and Place portion of Each Way bets for all Australian thoroughbred racing meetings, wagers will be paid at Mid Div (second highest dividend declared by the three Australian totes).

11.6       Sportsbet reserves the right to limit the stake on Mid Div bets and reserves the right to exclude customers from this price type at its discretion.

11.7       In the event that not all  of the three Australian totes declare a dividend within a reasonable time following the official decision of Stewards on race day, the dividend paid will be the dividend declared by Super-TAB.

Starting Price (SP)

11.8       SP bets are the odds of a specified runner at the end of betting. Bets placed at SP are guaranteed to be paid the State Official SP.

11.9       Where no State Official SP is provided, Sportsbet will settle all Top Tote Plus Win bets (Win and Win portion of Each Way) at the highest of the three dividends declared by each of the Australian Totes.

11.10    Sportsbet reserves the right to limit the stake on SP bets and reserves the right to exclude customers from this price type at its discretion.

11.11    SP Win only wagers are available on the phone and the internet.

12.5       Quinellas, Exactas, Trifectas and First Fours are offered in the following formats:

(b)           ’standout’, which requires the selection of one or more ‘key’ (selected) runners to finish in a specific position, in combination with the selection of one or more other runners in any order.

(c)           ’boxed’, which permit every selected runner to finish in any order.

12.6        Dividends

For:

(a)          tote-based:

(i)    Quinellas, Exactas and Trifectas, Sportsbet pays the dividend and winning combinations declared by   the relevant tote (which for ACT, Tasmanian, Queensland, Victorian, South Australian &  Northern Territory racing is Super-TAB and for NSW racing is NSW-TAB), subject to the Sportsbet Max Payouts Terms and Conditions.

(ii)    First Fours, payouts are based on the winning combinations and dividends declared by Super-TAB (unless otherwise stated).

(b)           Fixed Odds:

(i)     Quinellas, Exacta and Trifectas, payouts are based on calculated returns accepted at the time of bet placement, subject to these Racing Terms & Conditions (including terms and conditions concerning the FO Dead Heat Rule and scratchings) and the Sportsbet Max Payouts Terms and Conditions; and

12.7          Dead Heat

For:

  • Tote-based Quinellas, Exactas and Trifectas, in the event of a dead heat there will be as many dividends as there are correct order combinations as declared by the relevant tote (which for ACT, Tasmanian, Queensland, Victorian, South Australian & Northern Territory is Super-TAB and for NSW racing is the NSW-TAB).
  • Tote-based Fixed Fours, in the event of a dead heat there will be as many dividends as there are correct order combinations as declared by Super TAB (or the TAB otherwise stated).
  • Fixed Odds Quinellas, Exactas, Trifectas and First Fours, will be paid according to odds accepted at time of bet placement, subject to the FO Dead Heat Rule and the Sportsbet Max Payout Terms and Conditions.

12.8       For the purposes of Rule 12.7 of these Racing Terms & Conditions, the ‘FO Dead Heat Rule’ means in the event of a dead heat, wagers will be paid at face value of the ticket (meaning total payout figure including the initial stake) divided by the number of winning combinations for the applicable bet type.

12.9     Jackpots

For:

(a)           Tote-based Quinellas, Exactas and Trifectas, in the event of a jackpot, the Sportsbet dividend is calculated by taking the relevant tote (which for ACT, Tasmania, Queensland, Victorian, South Australian & Northern Territory racing will be Super-TAB and for NSW racing will be NSW-TAB) jackpot and dividing it by the number of $1,00 winning units. Where the total number of winning units held by Sportsbet is less than one, the flexi % held is multiplied over the jackpot amount to determine the dividend.

(b)           Tote-based First Fours, in the event of a Jackpot, and there is no dividend declared by the Super-TAB and a member of Sportsbet has successfully nominated the first four place getters in correct order then the dividend declared by Sportsbet shall, subject to the Max Payout Terms and Conditions, be equal to the total dollar amount of the pool held by Super-TAB on the jackpotted event less statutory deductions divided by the total number of winning units held by Sportsbet on the jackpotted event. Members who are entitled to claim winnings in respect of jackpotted events may request confirmation from the NTRWC as to the total number of units held by Sportsbet on the jackpotted event.

(c)           For Fixed Odds Quinellas, Exactas and Trifectas and First Fours, Jackpots do not apply.

12.10  Scratchings

(a)           Tote-based Quinella, Trifecta or Exactas, where a selected runner is declared a 'non-runner' or is scratched after the wager is confirmed, wagers will be refunded on every combination which includes the scratched runner and the combination stands and the wager re-calculated without the scratched runner.

(b)           Tote-based First Fours, where a selected runner is declared a 'non-runner' or is scratched after the wager is confirmed, wagers will be refunded on every combination which includes the scratched runner and the wager will be re-calculated without the scratched runner.

Other terms applicable to Fixed Odds Exotics

12.12    Doubles, Trebles, Quaddies and Super Six (otherwise known as Tote Multiples/Cross-race exotics) are only available as Tote-based products. They are not available in Fixed Odds form.

12.13      Fixed Odds Exotic bets can be calculated as a single bet only. They cannot be included in multis.

12.14      Unless otherwise stated, Fixed Odds Exotics markets open:

  • Approximately 9:30am AET on race day for Australia thoroughbred races; and
  • Approximately 1 hour prior to Race 1 for New Zealand thoroughbred races and Hong Kong thoroughbred races.

12.15    Fixed Odds Exotic bets may only be placed after the relevant market is open.

12.16    Unlike Tote-based exotics (which have no combination limit), a Fixed Odds Exotic bet will be a single bet made up of between 1 and 1,000 (maximum) combinations. Unless the bet consists of one single combination, each combination will have its own individual Fixed Odds price (it will not be one overall price for the bet).

12.17    Fixed Odds Exotic bets that contain two (2) or more combinations will display:

Average (Avg): shows the average odds (if no stake has been entered) / total returns (if state has been entered) based on all potential winning combinations of your selected runners.

  • Minimum (Min): shows the lowest odds / total returns based on all potential winning combinations of your selected runners.
  • Maximum (Max): shows the highest odds / total returns based on all potential winning combinations of your selected runners.
  • All odds / Returns: by clicking on ‘See all Combos’, a full list of potential winning combination variations and their relevant odds / returns will be visible.

12.18    A Fixed Odds Exotic percentage is calculated by the total stake divided by the number of combinations. Where the bet has a winning combination, that combination is paid out at the initial percentage multiplied by the Fixed Odds accepted for that combination at the time of bet placement.

Example: a Fixed Odds Trifecta is placed with six possible combinations. Customer places $3 on the Fixed Odds Trifecta, meaning they will receive 50% of the dividend if there is a winning combination. The combination prices are (A) $20, (B) $24, (C) $29, (D) $45, (E) $60 and (F) $90 respectively. The resultant winning combination is (E), meaning that the Customer will receive a dividend of $30 (i.e. $60 x 50% = $30).

12.19    Where a Bonus Bet is used to place the bet, the flexi percentage will be rounded to the nearest whole number. The Member will forfeit the remainder of the value of the Bonus Bet.

12.20    Sportsbet reserve the right to limit the total winnings payable to any individual customer on any Fixed Odds Exotic bet to the Maximum Win Limit.

12.21   The Cash Out feature is not available for Fixed Odds Exotic bets.

12.22   Odds for Fixed Odds Exotic bets may differ from those if you create the Same Race Multi bet yourself.

12.23  Fixed Odds Exotics Guarantee

(a)           The availability of the Fixed Odds Exotics Guarantee is at the sole discretion of Sportsbet. Races that are eligible for the Fixed Odds Exotics Guarantee will be clearly marked.

(b)           Where the Fixed Odds Exotics guarantee does apply, if you place a Fixed Odds Exotic bet you will get paid the higher of your winning Fixed Odds price accepted at the time of bet placement or the relevant Tote dividend as declared by Sportsbet.

(c)           For Fixed Odds Quinellas, Exactas and Trifectas, ‘relevant tote’ means Super-TAB for ACT, Tasmanian, Queensland, Victorian, South Australian & Northern Territory racing, and NSW TAB for NSW racing. For Fixed Odds First Fours, ‘relevant Tote’ means SuperTAB (unless otherwise specified).

13.2       Flexi Bets are available on Thoroughbred (excluding South African, New Zealand and English Racing) and Harness Quinella, Trifecta, Exacta and First Four wagers.

13.3       The amount invested on each combination covered by a Flexi Bet is determined by the total stake amount of the Flexi Bet divided by the number of combinations.

13.4       When taking Flexi Exotic Bets (Trifecta, Quinella, Exacta, First Four) the percentage is calculated by the total stake divided by the number of combinations (permutations). When scratchings occur, the number of invalid combinations (combinations which include scratched runners) multiplied by the percentage for each calculation is refunded.

13.5       Where the bet has a winning combination:

(a)           for tote Flexi Exotic bets, that combination is paid out at the initial percentage multiplied by the declared dividend;

(b)          for Fixed Odds Flexi Exotic bets, that combination is paid out at the initial percentage multiplied by the Fixed Odds accepted for that combination at the time of bet placement.

25.3       All bets placed must be placed prior to the commencement of Race 1 of the race meeting for wagers to stand.

25.4       The jockey/trainer/driver who accumulates the most points throughout the meeting is deemed the winner. In the event of a dead heat, where two or more Jockeys are equal on points at the completion of all races at the meeting, the Dead Heat Rule applies.

25.5       Any Other Individual jockey/trainer/driver counts as one selection i.e. If 2 jockeys who fall within the Any Other Individual Jockey category dead heat, only one dividend will be paid.

25.6       If a meeting is abandoned or postponed to another date, single bets are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected multi bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

25.7       Wagers will not be voided and refunded when a jockey/trainer/driver has an unassailable lead at the time when the meeting is abandoned or postponed.  In this case, all bets stand.

25.8       In the event of horses dead heating for the win and/or place; points are shared equally by the number of competitors that dead heat. See Table Below:

Dead Heat for First Dead Heat for Second Dead Heat for Third
1st 2.5, 2.5 3 3
2nd 0 1.5, 1.5 2
3rd 1 0 0.5, 0.5

25.9       In the case of two or more jockeys/trainers/drivers finishing the day on the same number of points, the Dead Heat Rule (Rule 8.1 of these Racing Terms & Conditions) applies. This is regardless of the number of outright winners trained or ridden.

26.        Jockey/Trainer/Greyhound Box/Megabets

26.1       Jockey: In the event of a jockey not being able to fulfil their pre-booked number of allocated rides at a selected meeting, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet can be unequivocally determined.

26.2       Trainer: In the event that any selected runner associated with a Trainer at a selected meeting is scratched, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet can be unequivocally determined.

26.3       Greyhound Box Megabets: In the event of a Box not being able to fulfil its pre-booked number of allocated runners at a selected meeting, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet can be unequivocally determined. The ‘Box’ is defined as the dog Box Number from which a Greyhound jumps in a race. Betting is Win only and all bets are accepted on an all-in basis (i.e., no refunds for non-starters).

27.        'Racing Best Bets Multis’ Market

27.1       Tips will be finalised as soon as reasonably practicable prior to the official start time of the race.

27.2       In the event that a tip is scratched or void (Original Tip), it may be substituted/replaced by the next listed tip for the relevant race (Replacement Tip). Bets will be paid out at the odds quoted at the time the bet is placed regardless of any changes to an Original Tip.

27.3       If there are no Replacement Tips available, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined.

27.4       In the event that one or more races is abandoned, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined.

27.5       The ‘Abandoned/Postponed and Transferred meetings’ rule in the Racing Terms & Conditions applies to meetings that are abandoned, transferred or postponed.

28.        Box Challenge

28.1       'Box Challenge' bets are available on selected meetings. The ‘Box’ is defined as the dog Box Number from which it jumps in the race. Betting is Win only and all bets are accepted on an all-in basis (i.e. no refunds for non-starters). The winning box for the meeting is decided under a 3, 2, 1 points scoring system. All bets placed must be placed prior to the commencement of Race 1 of the race meeting for wagers to stand.

28.2       In each race of the meeting, the winning Box Number receives 3 points, the second placed Box Number receives 2 points and the third placed Box Number receives 1 point. The Box Number that accumulates the most points throughout the meeting is deemed the winner. In the event of a dead heat, where two or more Box Numbers are equal on points at the completion of all races at the meeting, the Dead Heat Rule applies.

28.3       If a meeting is abandoned or postponed to another date, single bets are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected Multi bets will be recalculated excluding the Box Challenge event.

Wagers will not be voided and refunded where:

(a)           In the event of a Box Challenge event on a single meeting, a Box Number has an unassailable lead in which case all bets stand.
(b)           In the event of Box Challenge event on a racing carnival, a Box Number has an unassailable lead in which case all bets stand.

28.4       In the event of Dogs dead heating for the win and/or place; points are shared equally by the number of competitors that Dead Heat.  See Table below:

Dead Heat for First Dead Heat for Second Dead Heat for Third
1st 2.5, 2.5 3 3
2nd 0 1.5, 1.5 2
3rd 1 0 0.5, 0.5

28.5       Boxes 1 and 8 vs The Field (also known as ‘Hot Wings’):

- Select whether the winner of the race will have box 1, 8, or any other box (2,3,4,5,6,7).

- This market is only available when fixed odds betting is available on an event.

- Please note, that if either box 1 or 8 is scratched all bets will be refunded.

- If any other greyhound is scratched that is a fixed price of $6.00 or shorter at the time of the scratching, all bets on the 1 and 8 vs Field market will be refunded.

- Dead Heat rules apply (see Dead Heat Rule, Rule 8.1 of these Racing Terms & Conditions).

29.        Place Cards

29.1       'Place Cards' are available on the internet only and for thoroughbred racing only. Place Cards are selecting the first or subsequent place getters in four races specified. Place Card Odds are determined by adding the four odds together.

29.2       In fields of 8 or more runners, horses that run first, second or third are deemed to be eligible for a winning Place Card.

29.3       In fields of five (5), six (6) or seven (7) runners, only horses that run first and second are deemed to be eligible for a winning Place Card.

29.4       In fields of less than five (5) runners only the horse that runs first is deemed to be eligible for a winning Place Card.

29.5       Where there is a late scratching(s) and the field is reduced to 7 runners or less, the above rules will apply for all wagers taken after the official late scratching(s) time.

29.6       For wagers placed on fields of 8 or more prior to the official late scratching(s) time, first, second and third placings will count towards the Place Card.

29.7       If the Member's selection in one leg is scratched, then it becomes a three race Place Card and will be recalculated excluding that leg.

29.8       If two or more of the Member's selections are scratched, then the Place Card is cancelled and the wager is void and will be refunded.

29.9       If one leg is abandoned or declared a no race, then it becomes a three race Place Card and will be recalculated excluding that leg.

29.10    If two or more legs are abandoned or declared no races, then all Place Cards are cancelled and the wager is void and will be refunded.

29.11    If there is a dead-heat for third place in any of the four (4) designated races, the odds are halved for each horse that has dead-heated in that leg and added to the other three legs. In the case of triple dead-heats, one third of the odds will be added to the other three legs.

30.        Last Start Winners Market

30.1       If a selection is scratched or declared void, all single bets will be void and the stake refunded. Affected multi bets will be recalculated excluding that selection.

30.2       In the event that one or more races in the market is abandoned, all bets will be void unless the result of the bet has been unequivocally determined.

30.3       For the avoidance of doubt, deductions do not apply.

30.4       Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Racing Terms & Conditions apply to this market and will prevail to the extent of any inconsistency with these market-specific terms.

International Racing

31.         United Kingdom and Irish Racing

31.1       General settlement of bets

Horse racing bets are automatically settled on a double result basis unless otherwise stated or as detailed in the double result section herein.

Ante-post bets are settled on the Rules of Racing unless otherwise advertised. Where a result is amended after the weigh-in such an amendment will be ignored for settlement purposes. The advertised times of races, the runners, returns and results as published in the Racing Post (or the national press) will govern settlement of all bets, excepting errors and omissions. Unless otherwise provided for in these rules, all bets will be settled at SP, with the place part of each-way bets settled as per place terms set out in these rules.
For overseas racing please refer to overseas racing section.

In the event of a walk-over named or unnamed selections will be void and treated as non-runners for settlement purposes.

Queries regarding errors should be made within 14 days of settlement of the bet. An each-way bet consists of one bet to win on the selection and one bet to place on the selection in accordance with the place terms for the event.

In single and accumulative bets on horse racing place terms will be determined by the actual number of runners that run in the race. In any race of fewer than five starters, all place money goes onto win. With the exception of ante-post bets, the below each-way terms for horse and greyhound racing events are settled on the actual number of runners which are deemed to have run in the race and not the number of initial declared runners:

1) Handicaps of more than 16 runners - 1/4 odds on first four places.

2) Handicaps of 12-15 runners - 1/4 odds on first three places.

3) All other races of more than 8 runners - 1/5 odds on first three places.

4) All races of 5-7 runners - 1/4 odds on first two places.

5) All races of less than 5 runners - Place money goes on to win.

Win-only betting may only be available on selected races. The place terms displayed on Sportsbet’s website supersede these rules. Place bets are not accepted unless at least an equal amount is invested to win.

Any place money inadvertently accepted in excess of the win stake will be void.

On occasion, place-only betting may be advertised for selected events and any bets placed will be valid in such a situation. For the purpose of settlement, each-way accumulative bets are settled win-to-win and place-to-place.

The Dead heat rule (see Rule 8.1 of these Racing Terms & Conditions) applies to all international racing unless otherwise stated.

31.2       Abandonments/postponements/re-run races

If a race programme is abandoned or postponed bets will be void.

However, on occasions when a major race is postponed we reserve the right to advertise and apply the following: Bets accepted after 10am on the day of the overnight declarations will stand until that race is run, so long as the overnight declarations stand, unless cancelled by prior mutual agreement.

If races are set back in time on a day because of the weather, settlement of all bets will be ruled by the original advertised times.

If a race is re-run, betting in the first race will rule settlement, and horses which ran in the first race but did not start in the second will be considered losers.

31.3       Each-way betting

Each-way accumulative bets are settled win-to-win and place-to-place. In any race reduced to fewer than five starters, each-way bets will be taken as 'all-to-win' given that there are no places available.

In accumulative wagers, the bet reverts to normal place odds according to the number of runners in each race 'place bets' are not accepted unless at least an equal amount is invested to win, with the exceptions being Tote betting and on the occasions that we offer 'place only' Betting on individual races as a special offer.

Where there is excess place money over win money in each-way bets, then that part of the bet will be void, win or lose. When special place betting is offered for a race, this will rule settlement for all place bets on that race.

The following governs settlement of the place part of each-way bets:

Handicaps of 16 or more runners: 1/4 odds for the first four places

Handicaps of 12-15 runners: 1/4 odds for the first three places

All other races of 8 or more runners: 1/5 odds for the first three places

All races of 5, 6 or 7 runners: 1/4 odds for the first two places

All races of less than 5 runners: all place stakes will be treated as win stakes.

For overseas racing where we pay pari-mutuel returns, the each-way terms will be as determined by the local pari-mutuel rules.

31.4       Favourites

SP bets will be accepted each-way for first favourites, win-only for second favourites, and each-way for first favourites only in greyhound racing.

The favourite is the selection quoted in the official SP returns of the State Official Price at the shortest odds. The second favourite is the horse quoted at the next shortest odds. If two horses are quoted at the same odds and these odds are shorter than those quoted against any other horses, then these two are equal first favourite and equal second favourite. If two or more co-favourites are thus selected, the stake will be divided equally between them.

When a returned favourite does not come under starter's orders and is withdrawn, then that unnamed favourite will be treated as a non-runner with bets on the second favourite settled on the second favourite. The only exceptions to this provision are speciality bets such as Jackpot or Placepot bets where, if there is a withdrawn favourite, the next lowest priced horse is the one taken as to substitute for a non-runner that under the rules has to be replaced by the 'favourite'.

31.5       Double result

Double result is only applicable to horse racing in Ireland and the UK and overseas meetings where SIS return an industry SP.

Double result means if your horse is first past the post you get paid.  In addition to this, should your horse be awarded the race or promoted to a place, as a result of a stewards enquiry or an objection which is announced before the 'weigh in' or 'winner alright', Sportsbet will also pay your wager out.

Sportsbet offers Double Result on Place Betting, Betting Without Favourite, Fallers Insurance & all Cash Back Markets.

Double result does not apply to the following bets or circumstances:

1) All ante-post bets.

2) Bets which rely on Tote dividends i.e. Jackpots, Placepots etc which are settled on the Rules of Racing.

3) 'Distance specials' which are settled on a Rules of Racing basis only.

4) Any horse disqualified for taking the wrong course or for carrying an incorrect weight.

5) Races which are declared void.

6) Where there is an official correction to the result by the judge or SIS prior to the 'weigh in' and any races which are declared void before the 'weigh in' for which Rules of Racing will apply.

7) All bets on horse racing outside of South Africa, Ireland, and the UK, where an industry SP is not returned, are settled on a Rules of Racing basis only.

8) All bets placed on Betting in Running markets will be settled on a Rules of Racing basis only.

31.6       Ante-post

All racing ante-post bets are accepted and settled on a Rules of Racing basis only.

Ante-post bets are accepted at quoted prices, up to and including the day prior to the event, on the basis of all in, run or not, entered or not. Therefore selections not taking part in the race/event concerned are losers.

Ante-post bets are those placed at our quoted prices on horses and prior to the race becoming classed as 'day of event' (day of event is a term used to describe the time at which overnight declarations are made, usually 10am on the day preceding the race (or two days for certain Group 1 races) for horse racing and the day of the race for greyhounds).

All bets placed after the overnight declaration stage are settled in accordance with our early prices/day of race rules.

In line with principals laid down by Tattersalls Rules of Racing, ante-post bets will be void under the following circumstances, otherwise bets stand:

1) If the race is abandoned or declared void.

2) If the venue of the race is altered or postponed to a later date at a different track.

3) If the race is postponed to a later date at the same track with entries totally reopened bets placed after the initial entries are void, but bets placed prior to the initial entry stage will stand. All bets will stand if a race is postponed to later date at the same track with the same entries, whether the bet was placed before or after the initial entries stage.

4) If the horse is balloted out or eliminated under Jockey Club rules single bets will be void. In any such cases, accumulative ante-post bets will stand on the remaining legs, at the prices laid on the selections in those races, with a double becoming a single, a treble becoming a double, etc.

5) In the event of horses being withdrawn under Jockey Club/Turf Club rules, to limit the number of entries taken part, these horses shall be void. The liability of a layer against horses remaining will be reduced on both win and place parts of such bets, in accordance with the rate to be announced before the race by Tattersalls Committee, dependent on the odds currently available against the withdrawn horses at the time of withdrawal. All bets are executed at the price ruling at the time of handing in of the bet. We reserve the right to correct any palpable error. Win doubles, trebles, etc are calculated at full accumulative odds. Each-way doubles and trebles etc. are settled win-to-win, place-to-place, and for the place part of such bets, the fractional odds pertaining at the time of acceptance. Place only bets, conditional bets and forecast bets are not accepted ante-post. When the same selection is backed to win two or more races/events in ante-post bets, special odds are applicable. These special odds will supersede the accumulative odds calculated from the individual event prices irrespective of the fact that the individual event prices may be endorsed on the slip. If special odds were not available, the stake will be divided equally as singles at the prices available at the time the bet was placed.

31.7       Non-runner no bet

Ante-post betting ceases at 10.30am on the day of the overnight declaration stage and all bets placed after that stage will be 'non-runner no bet', i.e. your bet stake will be refunded if your horse fails to compete. Rule 31.8 of these Racing Terms & Conditions below may apply (Tattersalls Rule 4).

31.8       Late withdrawals - UK Tattersalls Rule 4

In all horse races, excluding ante-post bets, if a horse is withdrawn, not under starter's orders, bets will be settled in accordance with Tattersalls Rule 4(c), which says that backers of the withdrawn horse will have their stakes refunded.

When there has not been time for the market to reform, deductions are made from winnings (exclusive of stake) according to the table below.

In cases of more than one withdrawal in a race, the total deduction will not exceed 0.90c in $1.00.

When there has been time to reform the market, deductions will apply only to bets at board prices struck prior to the announcement of the withdrawal.

Tattersalls Rule 4 Schedule  (All rates in $)

A $1.11 or longer odds on 90c K $2.25 to $2.50 40c
B $1.11 to $1.19 85c L $2.60 to $2.75 35c
C $1.20 to $1.25 80c M $2.80 to $3.20 30c
D $1.28 to $1.30 75c N $3.40 to $4.00 25c
E $1.33 to $1.40 70c O $4.20 to $5.00 20c
F $1.44 to $1.53 65c P $5.50 to $6.50 15c
G $1.57 to 1.62 60c Q $7.00 to $10 10c
H $1.67 to $1.80 55c R $11 to $15 5c
I $1.84 to $1.95 50c S $15 + No deduction
J $2.00 to $2.20 45c

The above scale will also apply in the case of non-runners in early price races and will be used for other events where we specifically advertise, either in these rules or at the event itself that Tattersalls Rule 4 (abbreviated to Rule 4) may apply.

For withdrawals relating to ante-post, advertised early prices and greyhounds please refer to the appropriate section.

31.9       Reserves

Some races contain reserves, who may or may not be priced in our early prices lists. The finishing positions of any of these reserves will count whether they are priced or not.
The price of any reserves which run, will be offset against any Rule 4 deduction applicable from the non-runner(s).

31.10    No official SP returned (UK and Ireland)

Selections in races where no official SPs are returned from racecourses in the UK or Ireland will be settled at the industry SP (if returned).

If no official SP or industry SP is returned bets will be settled as following:

All bets where no price is taken (including forecasts, tricasts and unnamed favourites) will be settled at the closing 'show' prices offered by Paddy Power.

Where no 'show' prices are displayed for horse racing, bets will be settled at the appropriate Tote returns and all greyhound racing bets will be void.

Bets on unnamed favourites and second favourites will stand for races where an official or industry SP is returned, but will be void if neither SP is returned.

Note: For Tote Placepot/Quadpot bets - when no official SP is returned and an industry SP is returned in its place, Tote bets on unnamed favourites are settled on the Tote favourite and not the industry SP favourite.

31.11    Taking a price - advertised early prices

Bets accepted at our advertised prices after 9:00am AET on the day of the overnight declarations are not ante-post bets and will be settled in accordance with the terms advertised.

Prices advertised for 'early price' races are available subject to fluctuation up to the time as displayed in our offices (normally 20 minutes before the race 'off time' for UK races and 30 minutes for Irish races) or up to 'first show.'

In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter's orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in that race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersall's Rule 4 (c), based on the 'early price' of the withdrawn horse at the time of withdrawal (see table above).

Should any greyhound be withdrawn from an advertised 'early price' greyhound race all bets on that race shall be settled at SP.

31.12    Show/screen prices

Should a horse be withdrawn, and where Tattersall's Rule 4(c) would apply, no board prices may be laid after the withdrawal unless the market has reformed. Any such bets laid in error will be settled at SP or the next immediate price offered after withdrawal, whichever is the greater.
Should any greyhound be withdrawn all bets placed at a show price prior to withdrawal on that race will be settled at SP.

31.13    Forecasts

These can be accessed using the ' Exacta ' betting button on the Sportsbet betting page.

Subject to the following rules, we accept forecast singles, doubles and trebles as part of our normal business. Any forecast accumulators accepted in error, which do not comply to the format and conditions above, will be settled as forecast trebles, with the stake involved being equally split over the number of trebles available.

Forecast bets are settled from the returns declared by the CSF or BAGS/BEGS F/C. Any bonus for forecast doubles or trebles is added to the calculated total return, i.e. excluding any leg-by-leg bonus.

Forecast bets are void when: one of the selections does not run, less than three runners take part in the event, or you select unnamed favourites. If an unnamed favourite appears among the named selections, only that part of your bet including the unnamed favourite is void.

If for any reason, no CSF or BAGS/BEGS forecast is returned, bets will be settled by reference to the NSL Straight Forecast Chart.

In the event of a selection finishing alone, a forecast dividend with any other runner will be declared.

31.14    Tricasts

These can be accessed using the ' Trifecta ' betting button on the Sportsbet betting page)

Tricast bets, in which selections must finish first, second and third in the correct order in specified races are accepted in single bets only. Stakes for any tricast double, treble, etc accepted in error will be divided equally to cover each tricast race in tricast singles only.

Horse and greyhound (BAGS/BEGS) tricasts are only accepted on races for which a computer tricast dividend is declared. Any tricasts accepted for races which no tricast dividend is declared will be settled as computerised straight forecasts on the selections nominated to finish first and second, with the selection for third place discounted.

Any tricast which contains an unnamed favourite, that selection will be settled as a non-runner.

Tricasts will be settled in accordance with the official computerised return.

Should a tricast include a non-runner, the total stake will be invested as a computerised straight forecast on the remaining two selections in the order selected. In the case of combination tricasts the total stake will be invested as a reversed straight forecast on the remaining two selections.

If less than three horses finish in a tricast race, a dividend will be declared on those that finish.

Should a tricast include two non-runners, the bet will be void.

Examples of the above:

i) Full cover (24 bets) selections A, B, C, D with D as a non-runner is settled in the following manner: Full cover tricast A, B, C = 6 bets full cover forecast (3 x stake unit) A, B, C = 18 bets

ii) The same bet but with C and D as non-runners is settled as following: Full cover forecast (6 x stake unit) A,B = 12 bets plus 12 Single bets void.

31.15    Rules for special offers (Sportsbet daily specials - Special win doubles, trebles etc)

If the SP return is greater than the special advertised price for win doubles, trebles etc - we pay SP. (This does not apply to any specials including a 'placed' selection).

In the event of any non-runner(s) in any of the races from which the above have been selected we reserve the right to revert the bet to SP.

'Jockey specials' stand irrespective of who actually rides the named selections in the special. Where any of the selections included in the special are non-runners, the bet reverts to SP settlement, with an accumulator settled as a treble and a treble settled as a double etc.

In the event of any non-runners in the races from which a place only selection has been nominated, our normal place betting terms will automatically apply, i.e. bets revert to normal place terms according to the number of runners in each race as detailed under each-way betting. For example, if we advertise a horse to be placed in the first four, and due to non-runners the field is reduced to less than 16 runners, it will automatically become the first three places only etc.

31.16    Guaranteed odds race/Odds in your favour

Where Sportsbet offers a 'guaranteed odds race' if you take the early advertised price on this race and the SP is greater - we pay SP.

Please note this offer applies to early prices only and does not apply to show/screen prices.

31.17    Winning distance/How far will it win by

Betting on the winning distance will be on races only as displayed.

The winning distance will be that margin, as officially announced between the winning horse and the second.

All winning distance bets are settled on a first past the post basis only, i.e. double result does not apply.

In the event of a withdrawal resulting in a Rule 4 of 10c or greater in a race where Sportsbet offers distance betting the Rule 4 amount will be split between the number of distance options.

31.18    Betting Without

Where Sportsbet offers prices on an event without a nominated selection, for settlement purposes the finishing position of the 'without' selection will be ignored.

Any each-way terms advertised are settled on the actual number of runners who take part in the race, excluding the 'without' selection.

31.19    Nominate horses to finish the course etc.

All bets are settled in accordance with the official returns in the Racing Post (excluding errors), or in its absence the national press.

31.20    Special win and/or place multiples

Where Sportsbet quotes a price for two or more specified selections in a win or place multiple, settlement will revert to SP if there is a dead heat in any leg of the bet.

31.21    Horse match betting

Where Sportsbet quotes special match betting, all bets are settled Rules of Racing according to the official returns in the following days Racing Post. Bets are settled on the best finishing position.

In the event of both runners failing to complete the course - bets are settled on 'furthest to complete' according to the official result.

31.22    Combined winning distances for a meeting

Distances for each race meeting are settled on a 'first past the post' basis. If any of the scheduled races at a meeting are not run, bets are void unless the maximum quote has been attained.

The maximum winning distance per race for a flat race is 12 lengths while a National Hunt race is 30 lengths. This also applies should only one horse complete the race.

Distances are as follows:

Nose - 0.05

Short Head: 0.1

Head: 0.2

Neck: 0.3

Half a length: 0.5

3/4 of a length: 0.75

1 length: 1

Following length margins are rounded down to the number of lengths of the winning margin, up to a maximum of 12 (or 30 for a National Hunt race).

31.23    Jockey number of winners

If the jockey rides any horse which, according to that days Racing Post he was not scheduled to ride, that ride does not count for the purposes of bets on that jockey.

31.24    Today's hot pots

How many of the selected horses will win their respective races today? If any of the selected horses are non-runners all bets are void unless the maximum quote has already been attained.

31.25    Winning favourites

If the favourite is withdrawn the second favourite replaces the favourite for this market. If both the first and second favourites are withdrawn the next lowest horse(s) in the betting counts for this market.

If neither an official SP nor industry SP is returned on any of the included races - all bets on this market are void.

31.26    Place betting only

In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter's orders, stakes on that selection will be returned.

Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction based on the Sportsbet place only price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of the withdrawal, (see Sportsbet Place Only Rule 4 Table below) e.g. Horse X priced at $1.95 in the place only -2 places market, then the Rule 4 deduction of 30c based on the $1.95 place price shall apply to the 'place only' betting market.

The number of places being paid shall remain constant e.g. If we are originally paying three places and the race is reduced to 7 or less runners Sportsbet will still pay 3 places. The only exception to this is when the number of runners is equal to or less than the number of places on offer. In this instance all bets are void. Normal dead-heat rules apply.

Double Result concession does apply to this market.

31.27    Insurebet 2nd place

Price offered is for the horse to win the race. If the horse finishes second, the bet stake is returned.

In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter's orders, stakes on that selection will be returned. Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersall's Rule 4(c) based on the win price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal, (see Tattersall's Rule 4 table above) e.g. Horse X priced at 4/1 in the win market and 11/4 in the ’Cash Back 2 Places’ market is withdrawn then a Rule 4 deduction of 20c based on the 4/1 win price shall apply to the ‘Cash Back 2 Places’ market.

In the event of a race being reduced to 4 or less runners all bets are void. Normal dead-heat rules apply.

Double Result concession does apply to this market.

31.28    Faller Insurance

Price offered is for the horse to win the race.

If the horse falls, unseats the jockey or is brought down the bet stake is returned. It does not apply to horses that Slip Up, Refuse, Run Out or get Carried Out.

In the event of a horse being withdrawn, not under starter's orders, stakes on that selection will be returned.

Bets for the remaining horses in the race will be subject to a deduction in accordance with Tattersall's R4(c) based on the Win price of the withdrawn horse(s) at the time of withdrawal, (see Tattersall's R4 table under Horse Racing rules). E.g. Horse X priced at 4/1 in the win market and 11/4 in the ’Faller Insurance’ market is withdrawn then a R4 deduction of 20c based on the 4/1 Win price shall apply to the ’Faller Insurance’ market.

Refunded bets will be settled as soon as possible but in some cases may take up to an hour.

Where disputes arise results will be taken from www.sportinglife.com

Double Result concession does apply to this market.

31.29    Jockey performance

Points are awarded for jockey performance as follows: Win - 25pts 2nd - 10pts 3rd - 5pts.

If any of the jockey's intended rides are non-runners, points will be awarded as follows:

Evens or shorter - 15pts

$2.10 to $4.50 - 10pts

$5 to $9 - 5pts

$10 or more - 0pts

The price used will be the Sportsbet early price at time of confirmation of non-runner. The last show price will be used if horse is withdrawn during the show.

If it is a race without early prices and before first show the predicted SP in the Racing Post shall be used.

In the event of a walkover points will be settled by the same method as if the jockey's horse was a non-runner.

Other than a walkover the number of runners in a race does not affect the points awarded e.g. In a 3-runner race third place gets 5 points.

If a jockey fails to ride any of his intended mounts but the horse does run, the horse's performance does count towards the points total for the jockey.

31.30    Favourite's performance

Predict the performance of the SP favourites at a specific meeting.

Points are awarded on the following basis: Winner = 25, Second = 10, Third = 5. Favourites finishing lower than third are awarded 0 points. If there are joint/co favourites, then the runner with the lowest race card number is deemed favourite for the purpose of this market.

In the event of no SP being returned, the favourite will be the runner with the lowest price in the betting forecast published in the Racing Post.

In the event of a dead heat for any placing, points for these runners will be added together and divided equally between the number of positions, e.g. dead-heat for second place involving the favourite = (10+5)/2 = 7.5 points. If any of the scheduled races at a meeting are not run, then all bets are void unless the maximum quote is reached.

If the favourite is withdrawn at the start of the race and no new market is formed, points will be awarded dependent on the price of the favourite at the time of the withdrawal: Evens or shorter = 15, 11/10 to 9/2 = 10, 5/1 or bigger = 5.

31.31    Walkovers

Walkovers will be excluded from all markets unless created by the withdrawal of a horse after we have begun quoting a market concerning the race in question, in which case the make-ups will be as follows:

Racecard numbers: Number of horses walking over, Doubled Favourite: 20 points, SP: 1 point.

Distances: (i) Flat: 5 lengths (ii) National Hunt: 12 lengths.

In the event of a walkover all Ante-Post bets on the event will be void.

35.        United States Racing

35.1       For all USA racing where fixed pricing is offered, the SP is the last fixed odds offered by us on that race. If Sportsbet does not offer fixed odds on that race, the final dividend will be paid based on the US Tote dividend.

35.2       Sportsbet will refund all bets on a race that is declared by the US host track to be a no-contest i.e., where due to scratched (non-runners) entrants there are insufficient wagering interests remaining to fulfil the requirements of the bet type. Win pools, exacta pools, and first leg of double pools offered in contests in which the number of betting interests has been reduced to less than two.

35.3       Place pools, quinella pools, trifecta pools, offered in contests in which the number of betting interests has been reduced to fewer than three. Show pools, superfecta pools, offered in contests in which the number of betting interests has been reduced to less than four.

35.4       All bets placed online on US racing will be settled on number rather than name; names are displayed for information purposes only.

35.5       Dividend: A dividend is declared at the track for the winner and the place horses. All dividends must be halved to get the actual return. E.g. you placed $10 win on Horse No. 1 at Race 1 at Arlington. The selection wins and paid 34.00 on the US Tote. Your winnings would be $170.00 because the tote dividend is declared to a $2 stake.

35.6       Place terms: Win bets are settled to the win pool. Each way bets with eight or more runners are settled to win and show pool. In races with five to seven runners the place part of an each way bet is settled to the place pool.

35.7       Exacta: This bet requires you to select the first and second horses in a race, in their exact order of finish. This can also be reversed at twice the stake.

35.8       Trifecta: (can also be called triacta): You must select the first, second, and third finishers in a race, in their exact order. To finish in any order, it involves six bets (as a boxed trifecta).

35.9       Results & Prices are based on individual runner numbers and not coupled horses (as can often be the case when looking at official USA results/prices).

36.        All Other Overseas Racing

36.1       All horse racing outside Ireland or the UK are settled on a Rules of Racing basis only. In countries where bookmakers do operate and an official SP is returned, bets are accepted in accordance with our general rules and any conditional rules applicable to the country concerned, as advertised by Sportsbet In countries where there is no SP market in operation, bets may be accepted at the following where available:

(a)           Sportsbet early prices or SIS industry shows.

(b)           For selected meetings when an SIS/industry SP is in operation and advertised, bets not at an early or show price will be settled at the SIS/industry SP and not at pari-mutuel returns. (Bets may be accepted at pari-mutuel returns for meetings when an SIS/industry is in operation only if Sportsbet displays this facility - otherwise bets will be settled at the industry SP).

(c)           When there is no SIS/industry SP in operation bets placed not at an early or show price will be settled at pari-mutuel returns.

(d)           If a meeting is abandoned, transferred to another venue/track (including transferring to a different track at the same venue) or postponed to another date, single bets are void and wagers will be refunded. Affected Multi Bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

(e)           Where a 'Futures event (All in betting)' is abandoned, bets will be made void. Affected Multi Bets will be recalculated excluding that event or leg.

(f)            Where a 'Futures event (All in betting)' has been postponed or transferred from the original date, all bets stand until the completion of the event.

37.        Mystery Bets

Mystery bets are offered on all Gallops, Harness and Greyhound events.

The 'Include Favourite' option is only available on Exotic bet types, where a fixed odds market is offered. The favourite is determined as the fixed odds favourite at the time the bet is struck (not the official SP favourite). In the event where joint favourites exist, the lowest saddlecloth number (#1. being the lowest) will be selected.

Standard exotic rules will apply once the bet is struck. Payout limits apply to all Mystery Bets - refer to the maximum payout limit(s) outlined in the Max Payouts located in the Sportsbet Rules Terms & Conditions
