What's changing with Tote Betting?

Australia's Tote betting is changing. The three separate state-based Tote pools are merging into one Tote pool, creating one set of Tote dividends nationwide or One Pool. This is an industry-wide change that all book makers in Australia will utilize going forward. Access the same bet types, including Win, Place, Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, First 4, Quaddie and other available Tote products.

• Tote (TO) now represents the Tote pool.
• Tote+ (TO+) continues to return the best of the Tote and the Starting Price (SP) — so you'll get whichever of the two is the better price at settlement.

What is the Tote (TO)?

The Tote is the new Nation wide tote pool that provides one set of Tote dividends nationwide for any Tote betting. Until now, Australia has operated across three separate Tote pools:

• NSW TAB Pool
• SuperTAB Pool (VIC, WA, ACT)
• UBET Pool (QLD, SA, NT, TAS)

Because each pool calculated dividends independently, the same bet could return different dividends depending on which pool it went into. These are now combining into one national pool — one pool, one dividend, right across Australia.

Why is this happening?

This is an industry wide change driven by the TAB who manage the Tote pools. Merging the pools is designed to deliver:

• Larger, deeper betting pools
• More stable and reliable dividends
• One Tote price
• Fewer chances of missing out on the best Tote dividend available nationwide

Is this a Sportsbet only change?

No. This is an industry-wide change and not a Sportsbet-specific decision. The Tote applies right across the Australian Tote industry.

What does this mean for me?

Do I need to do anything?

No action is required from your end. Your account, your bets, and the way you bet all stay the same. Toggle between Fixed Odds or Tote at the top of the race card just above the runner's odds. 

What does the Tote change for me when betting?

Top Tote Plus (TT+) will be replaced by Tote Plus (TO+), which functions the same as TT+ and Midi Div will be retired as a price option and no longer available. 

• Tote (TO) now represents the Tote pool.
• Tote+ (TO+) continues to return the best of the Tote and the Starting Price (SP) — so you'll get whichever of the two is the better price at settlement of your bet.

You may notice:

• Tote dividends look different from what you've seen previously
• Larger pools may result in less dividend fluctuation
• State-based Tote pool references (like NSW, SuperTAB or UBET) will disappear
• There will be one Tote dividend instead of separate state-based dividends
• Messaging on racecards letting you know the state-based pools have been combined into a single Tote pool

What's staying the same?

Your betting experience remains largely unchanged. You'll continue to:

• Place Tote bets the same way
• Access the same bet types, including Win, Place, Quinella, Exacta, Trifecta, First 4, Quaddie and other available Tote products

No bet types have been removed.
